The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange and purple as Ruhanika stood on the balcony of her new home, the weight of her recent marriage settling heavily on her shoulders.
Just a week ago, she had been a free-spirited soul , living life on her own terms.
Now, she found herself bound in an arranged marriage to the heir of Suryavanshi family Kritarth Suryavanshi , the very man she had loathed since their first encounter at their engagement .
Kritarth Suryavanshi , with his brooding eyes and sharp tongue, had been nothing short of a nightmare.
Yet, despite their rocky start, there was an undeniable chemistry that lingered in the air, sparking a confusion within Ruhanika that she couldn’t quite grasp.
She sighed, leaning against the railing, lost in thought.
The door creaked open, and Kritarth stepped out, his presence commanding yet distant.
“You’re going to catch a cold out here,”
He said, his voice a mixture of anger and irritation.
It was a tone she had grown accustomed to, one that made her want to push back even harder.
“I’d rather be cold than trapped inside with you,”
She retorted, crossing her arms defiantly.
Kritarth's lips curled into a smirk, his eyes glinting with amusement.
“You’re not trapped, Ruhanika . You chose this.”
“Chose? You think I had a choice?”
She shot back, the tension growing palpable between them.
Before Kritarth could respond, the sudden ringing of Ruhanika's phone interrupted their standoff.
She glanced at the screen, her heart sinking as she read the name. It was her brother, Ark .
The last time they had spoken, he had warned her about their family’s secrets and the darkness that lay in their past—secrets that Kritarth was unknowingly tied to.
“Hello?”
She answered, trying to keep her voice steady.
“Ruhi Di ! You need to listen to me. I don’t have much time,”
Ark’s voice was frantic, sending a chill down her spine.
“What’s wrong?”
She asked, her heartbeat quickening.
“It’s about Alok. There are things you don’t know. You need to find out more about him before it’s too late.”
Ruhanika’s gaze flickered to Kritarth, who was now watching her intently, his expression unreadable.
“What do you mean?”
She whispered, her stomach knotting with anxiety.
“Just trust me. I’ll explain everything when I can. But promise me you’ll be careful.”
The call ended abruptly, leaving Ruhanika reeling.
She looked up at Kritarth, who was now standing closer, his demeanor shifting from playful to protective.
“What’s wrong?”
He asked, his voice low and steady.
“Nothing,”
Ruhanika lied, her mind racing.
The last thing she wanted was for him to know that she was in some kind of trouble and is already questioning their marriage.
Kritarth studied her for a moment before stepping closer.
“You can’t lie to me, Ruhanika . I can see it in your eyes.”
She glanced at Kritarth, who looked torn between protecting her or hating her.
The two of them stood in a tense silence, the evening air heavy with unspoken secrets and looming revelations.
Ruhanika could feel the weight of the world pressing down on her, knowing that whatever Kritarth gets to know today would change everything.
In that moment, she realized that her new life was just beginning, but it was already riddled with complexities, and she was about to uncover the truth that could either bind her to Kritarth or set her free.
As darkness settled outside, Ruhanika braced herself for what lay ahead, knowing that the line between love and hate was about to blur even further, and the secrets they all held could either tear them apart or bring them closer together.
